WORLDSHIP is an illustrated novel about the global human experience epitomized by very few families aboard a small ship. Through the medium of the comic strip, this book depicts the interactions of distinct mindsets as they debate the best way to prevent sinking and their resulting dynamic actions.

One evening, I read Luke 11.8, which is the parable about a kind person in need yet is turned away by an ungracious so-called friend. However he did not give up asking, and "because of his importunity (anaemia, shameless insistence)" the lazy one finally did rise and gave him as much as he needed. The commentator wrote that God may not answer our prayers speedily, yet if we continue to "knock, and the door will be opened to you." This was demonstrated to me the very next morning, and took the parable one step further: In the city centre, beside a red traffic light, an unappealing older man was knocking at a bus door. The driver was gesturing that it was not permitted, indicating that it was against his regulations to open except at a bus stop for it was dangerous in rush hour traffic; however, the man would not stop — the driver opened the door and the man got on. This powerful coincidence sparked a profound change in my attitude towards what I am allowed to do in life.

A new steel bridge soars high above a vast river, yet the route to the forest remains incomplete. Until, from across the river, swims a water spirit. Although it has no eyes, it is more aware of what is required than the frustrated bridge builder. Notably, it is the spirit that emerges onto land and offers friendship, but he lacks empathy and draws back. This represents two factions of the human psyche requiring connection.
